Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will face off for the first time in front of millions of Americans on Tuesday in what could be their only televised debate before the presidential election. With less than two months to go until Election Day, the rivals will face off on ABC in a highly anticipated event after President Joe Biden's disastrous performance in his June 27 debate with Trump, which was one of the reasons he withdrew and nominated his running mate.
Harris, 59, whose candidacy has sparked enthusiasm and united the Democratic Party, will now face an opponent who has called her “crazy,” questioned her racial identity and attacked her for being a woman.
Harris has overtaken Trump in the polls. The first black and South Asian woman to serve as vice president is spending a few days in nearby Pittsburgh preparing for the debate.
The 78-year-old candidate is expected to adopt an aggressive tone, especially since Biden’s withdrawal and Harris’ entry into the race made him the oldest candidate in US history
