Microsoft's offer to buy the US operations of the light video app TikTok was rejected by ByteDance, the platform's Chinese owner, the US computer giant said Sunday evening.
“ByteDance let us know today that they will not be selling TikTok's US operations to Microsoft. We are convinced that our proposal would have been good for TiTok users while protecting national security interests, ”Microsoft said in a statement.
Microsoft had expressed at the beginning of August its interest in the acquisition of the American operations of TikTok, under the threat of a ban in the United States.
